“If an energy drink could make music, it would sound like STUFF.”, Jazz Standard wrote. Or as BBC Radio 1 put it: “This is what we imagine Flying Lotus’ band to be like.” STUFF. is a 5-piece live band that brings a cross-genre groove, spanning from broken hip-hop to more electronic and jazz-influenced future funk. They defy easy categorisation. STUFF. released its self-titled debut album in 2015 to critical acclaim. The record was also mentioned in several year-end lists. The five released their second album old dreams new planets in 2017 – once again receiving raving reactions and even topping the charts! And now there’s T(h)reats, the band’s third album which took a bit longer to finish because of a certain pandemic. The pun is self-explanatory. The record is a culmination of inspiration from the live touring and other projects. Some tracks start from compositions, others are edits from impro-sessions.
