Joshua Redman Still Dreaming

Joshua Redman (sax), Ron Miles (trumpet), Scott Colley (bass), Brian Blade (drum)

After graduating from Harvard in 1991, Joshua Redman got the opportunity to continue his studies at Yale University. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance. However, Redman decided to chuck it all in and blaze a new trail in his life with his sax at his side. Throughout a career that’s spanned nearly a quarter century, Redman has remained true to his principles: travel all paths through the jazz world, with equal amounts of naturalness and devotion in every context, while always remaining himself. From quartets with diverse figures such as Pat Metheny and Brad Mehldau, to the sax/bass/drums trio formula made standard by Sonny Rollins once upon a time. Redman has now started writing a success story together with his own quartet (pianist Brad Mehldau, bass player Christian McBride, and drummer Brian Blade). He and his Still Dreaming quartet will be reinterpreting the historic “Old and New Dreams” quartet from the 1970s and 1980s at Jazz Middelheim.
